Becoming a parent marks a profound transition, one that brings with it a host of new roles and responsibilities—often without the preparation we might hope for. Among these responsibilities is the challenge of managing our children's evolving behaviors as they grow. This task exists alongside numerous other demands we face in our lives, whether they stem from work, social obligations, or personal aspirations. In response to these dynamic pressures, many parents seek ways to streamline family life, aiming to conserve energy and time for financial stability, health, and social connections.
However, in striving for efficiency, we sometimes develop strategies that inadvertently undermine our parenting goals. This can lead to a reactive approach known as triage parenting, where the focus shifts primarily to imposing consequences rather than fostering positive interactions. As a result, families may find themselves caught in a cycle of negativity, where day-to-day interactions become centered around managing behavior rather than nurturing growth and connection. In this course, we will explore more constructive approaches to parenting that promote healthy relationships and encourage cooperative behavior while balancing the myriad responsibilities of modern life.
